MEET THE STAFF

The Teachers

Sam O'BrienMiss Sam O'Brien 
Headteacher, 
History and RE Co-ordinator.

I love working at Riccall School! I started working here in January 2006. In my spare time I enjoy watching football (I support Liverpool FC),listening to music, painting and spending time with my family. I have a two dogs and three chickens. I enjoy trying new sports and like climbing and surfing.

Foundation Stage Teacher and Geography Co-ordinator

I teach Foundation Stage and we have lots of fun learning creatively through play. I am married and we have a very mad cocker spaniel called Inca. She is named after the Inca trail we walked on our Honeymoon.

I share the year 1 class with Mrs Kinnaird. I am married with two grown up children. I love walking and working with the Brownies.

Mrs Nicola Wilson - Deputy Head Teacher, Literacy and Assessment Leader. Year 6 Teacher 

Hello! I have many jobs in school, I look after the curriculum and help to think of exciting things we can learn. I am also in charge of assessment and look at how well we are doing. My favourite job is leading writing - Big Writing especially (Big Talk being my speciality as I can't stop chatting!). Being Deputy Head is exciting and it is great working in such a happy school. At home I have 2 children, Jake and Belle. We have Smokey the cat and Scruffy the dog. When we spend time together we read, draw pictures and go for long walks where we imagine we are monster hunters! I am the Year 6 teacher so if you are in school pop down and say hello...
I recently got married so you may know me as Miss Salmon, don't worry if you forget, I do!

I teach in Year 6 with Mrs Wilson. I have a daughter called Lily and a dog called Tessa. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy walking, reading, listening to music and cooking.

I am married with two daughters, 1 dog, 1 guinea pig and a rabbit. I like shopping, cycling and ski-ing. I also love chocolate.
Joanne HarphamMrs Joanne Harpham -  Y2 teacher.
I teach in Y2. I am married and have two young children and a ginger cat called Jaffa Cake. I enjoy going out with family and friends, swimming and going on bike rides. I like reading and music and I am learning to play the piano.

I share a class with Mrs Harpham. I have two children aged 4 and 6. I enjoy baking, papercraft and creative hobbies. I have 2 rabbits called Magic and Waffle. I enjoy travelling to countries in the Far East.

I teach year 3/4 and run the short mat bowls/rounders after school clubs. I have two grown up sons and our interest outside of school is bowls.


Mr Stephen Flatman - Y3/4 teacher


Hello! I teach in Year 3/4. I enjoy cycling and when I'm not at school I like to go for long rides in the countryside. I also love playing different musical instruments including my violin and my guitar. I like to meet up with other people to play in bands and orchestras.

Mrs Hannah Hebden – Music Subject Leader
I teach music throughout the school and like making lots of noise. I live in Selby and have two sons aged 8 and 12. I enjoy painting and drawing, reading and cycling.

I am the school secretary. Riccall School is a great place to work, full of friendly staff and children. I am married with 2 children and enjoy gardening, eating out and walking.
Caroline AdamsMrs Caroline Adams -Teaching  assistant in Y3/4. School Administrator (Tuesday, Wednesday afternoons and all day Thursday) ICT Technician and Home School Link Worker.

My name is Caroline Adams and I am a teaching assistant in KS2. I get a great deal of pleasure working with children within such a happy, caring environment. I am married with one daughter. In my spare time I enjoy watching sport, travelling and holidays abroad.

I am a teaching assistant in Year 1. I live in Riccall, I am married and have two children and two grown up step-children.I have a pet dog called George. I enjoy working in school because we always have lots of fun and every day is different.
In my spare time I love to shopping and sometimes go to watch Leeds United.

I am a teaching assistant, working with KS1 and KS2 children. I really enjoy helping the children and find huge satisfaction in watching then grow in confidence and gain self-esteem. I am married with one son and one daughter. I love spending time with family and friends. I enjoy reading, gardening, walking, visiting National Trust properties/gardens, playing badminton and golf. I attend art classes and yoga. I am also involved in various voluntary work in the village and am a trustee of Riccall Parochial Charities

I am a teaching assistant as well as the school librarian. I work in KS2 each morning with a year 5 child and in KS2 each afternoon. I am married with 2 children.

Hi, my name is Otilia Broxup. I am a teaching assistant every morning in year 5, as well as a HLTA in the afternoons covering planning and preparation time for teachers. I like music,reading, gardening and travelling. I live in Selby.

 I am a teaching assistant working with both KS1 and KS2. I am married and have two grown up children and a boxer dog called Georgie. I love working at Riccall school as the staff and the children are so caring and thoughtful creating a happy place in which to teach and learn. In my spare time I enjoy going out with friends and family and going on holiday.

Hi, I am new to the school and I am looking forward to being part of the school team. I am a mum of school age boys and I spend most of my spare time taking them to various clubs and activities. When I get the opportunity I enjoy keeping fit and being outdoors.

Hello, I'm Jane Duffy and I support a young boy in year 5. I am married with one son. I enjoy cooking and gardening. At weekends I like to go for long drives in the countryside with my family, in our other car that's even older than me!
